Allstate’s Tech-Cor division provides a nigh-biblical amount of auto collision and repair information. This massive auto knowledge library was originally hosted on a website first designed in 1998, and before long, the amount of information contained within far reached beyond the capabilities of a website of that size. My job was to design a site that an insurance claims adjuster could use to access information reliably and quickly when in an auto shop or at the scene of an accident. Handling all this was quite the massive endeavor.

Tech-Cor hadn't gotten any sort of design or branding love in over 20 years. With it came a new logo and icon library.

Icon Library

Since agents often used the Tech-Cor research database on the road (usually at an auto repair shop when assessing damages), the first function added right to the homepage was a massive search bar. With a library of this size, a search database was the easiest approach to finding the right information.

The website design also focused on compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, making sure information was clear and easy to read by people of all abilities.

Massive technical libraries originally had no sorting mechanism. Designing the website wasn't only a project in web design, but one in information design. Organizing and supplementing multiple decades of materials related to hundreds (if not thousands) of car makes and models meant creating simplified filtering systems and information hierarchies.
